E M O T I O N S:
Depression
What is it? Depression is different from sadness.
It's deeper and much harder to shake. Depression is that feeling you have
when you are really down. You feel hopeless and unmotivated. It can
be a really serious problem for people with low self esteem (those who don't
like themselves).
Warning Signs
What to do. If you think you might be depressed or you know someone
who is:
Get help as
soon as possible!
This is very serious.
- Talk to an adult you can trust. (Now!)
- Let them refer you to a mental health professional.
- Call the Suicide Prevention Hotline in the white pages of the
phone book. (Every community has one.)
Or, if you live in North America, call
National 24 Hour Hopeline Network at
1-800-SUICIDE
(1-800-784-2433)
With help you can feel better than you do right now.
